We own a small pastel drawing of a blooming smoke tree in a wash by Agnes Pelton. See image. Smoke trees bloom for a short time in early summer with the most amazing display of Indigo blue. I wanted to capture a sense of those colors but this painting doesn't feel abstract enough to me. I wish the areas of color were more loosely defined. Maybe I'll try another someday.
